Farmer John's Herbs is family-run farm in the beautiful Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia.
Our farm philosophy is healthy soil - healthy food - healthy people. We use regenerative farming practices to create a healthy farm ecosystem. Healthy ecosystems grow healthy, high quality food. We take great care to meet the highest standards of food safety, through NSF and Organic certification. Our Story
In 1958 Jacoba and Bram Lohr immigrated to Canada from The Netherlands. They started farming here in 1960, growing strawberries, potatoes, cut flowers and various other crops. Bram and Jacoba took a chance growing Summer savory for a group of women from their church, which was the beginning of our herb growing enterprise.
In 1985 Bram's son John, and his wife Heather, took over farming operations. Together they started the Farmer John's Herbs brand and built a food safe kitchen on the farm where we grow, create and sell summer savory, organic spices, and traditional seasonings of the Maritimes and East Coast of Canada.
In 2025 the 3rd generation, Aaron and his wife Julie, purchased Farmer John's Herbs. They bring a renewed passion for growing high quality herbs and connecting Canadians to Canadian food.
