Savory Lemon Drumsticks

I spend most of the summer cooking my meals outside on the grill and a homemade marinade helps kick the flavours up a notch. I like to use an extra large Ziploc bag for my marinades, as they make cleaning up a breeze, but a shallow glass dish with a lid works like a charm.

13-16 chicken drumsticks, skin on

Savory Lemon Marinade

1 cup (250 ml) water
1 cup (250 ml) lemon juice
2 Tbsp (30 ml) Farmer John's Savory Garlic Oil
2 Tbsp (30 ml) Farmer John's Organic Onion flakes
1 Tbsp (15 ml) Farmer John's Organic Garlic granules
2 Tbsp (30 ml) Farmer John's Summer Savory
1 Tbsp (15 ml) salt
1 Tbsp (15 ml) black pepper


  1. Combine all marinade ingredients in an extra large Ziploc bag
  2. Add chicken drumsticks, seal bag and massage into chicken. 
  3. Keep refrigerated for 2-24 hours
  4. Preheat grill to a medium-high heat
  5. Cook chicken on grill in indirect heat for 30-35 minutes (or until internal temperature reaches 180 degrees), turning every 7-8 minutes. 
  6. Remove chicken and let rest for 5 minutes before serving
